  • Term Report Cards

    Term Report Cards are now available from the General Office. Students can pick-up reports during the noon hour, parents can pick-up reports at anytime during the school day. Please review the report and contact your child's teachers directly if you have any questions or concerns.

Grade 12 Aboriginal students
Grade 12 Aboriginal students wishing to apply to the national INDSPIRE Aboriginal scholarship and bursary program have until June 1 to do so. This is a huge well of funding that academically solid students, artistically talented students, and students qualified to enter the trades should not overlook!! See Ms Flett.

LAST MINUTE SCHOLARSHIPS: All graduating students should check out the list of last-minute scholarships from $500 to $10,000. Deadlines range from May 15 to Sept. 15. See your counselor or pick up a copy of the information sheet from the notice board outside room 203.
 
John Barsby Track and Field
The John Barsby Track and Field squad had a dominant performance at the North Island Track Meet this past Tuesday.  A huge congratulation to our team members for their efforts!
 
Rugby
A huge congratulations to our school’s Rugby Squad!
The Rugby Dawgs came together as an untested group at the beginning of April and proceeded to Try Their Hardest, Got Better Each Day and went out competed the right way with passion and teamwork!
Yesterday afternoon at Pioneer Park our young men went undefeated and won the 1st annual District Rugby 7’s tournament!  Champions!!  Way To Go Dawgs! 
Our school is very proud of each and every one of you! 
A special thanks to Mr. Mack, Mr. Jones and Mr. McIntire for their outstanding job of coaching.
 
Volleyball
Every Wednesday at 3:40 there is a volleyball practice for girls, all grades for those who wish to play on a school team next year.  Skill development and fun is the focus.  See Mr. Letourneau or Ms. Moslin for details.
 
Tickets to Timberman Game
John Barsby has been given 100 free tickets to the Nanaimo Junior “A” Timbermen game this Saturday at 4pm.  If you would like a free ticket please see Mrs. Rispin in the counseling office.  The game starts at 4pm at the Nanaimo Ice Center.  You have to wear Barsby colors and be ready for some sporting action.
 
Odds and Ends
1.      The music hangout is cancelled for today but will resume next Friday.
2.      For staff involved in the grade 7 tour planning session – the meeting is cancelled today at lunch and will now take place on Monday at 2:45 in room 209.
 
Report Cards
Report cards can be picked up by students at lunchtime today.  They will be available at lunchtime in the main foyer.
