    YOUR VOICE 2015 - Tonight at John Barsby Secondary 6:30 - 8:30 PM.  This is is a public engagement process focused on receiving feedback on the Enhanced Facilities for Learning Plan and the 2015-16 Budget. We hope to see you here at Barsby tonight. 
  • Scholarship deadline tomorrow!!!

    The Nanaimo-Ladysmith Schools Foundation scholarship and bursary applications are due Friday February 27th. Late applications are not accepted.   • Grad Fashion Show

    The Barsby Class of 2015 Fashion Show is March 5th at 7PM in Chandler Hall. Tickets $10 at the door, all funds raised by this event go to support Prom 2015.​

  • FoodSafe Course at Barsby
    “Food Safe is being offered on Wednesday, March 4 from 9 am – 3 pm, here at John Barsby. There are a limited number of seats available to any students wishing to take the course. Please talk to Chef Ludtke to register. The cost is $40.”

Grade 12 students
Attention grade 12 students:  Please remember that the completed general scholarship and bursary applications are due to the Counselling Office by Friday, February 27.  Late applications will not be accepted.

Junior Football
All boys currently in grade 8 and 9 who want to play football this coming season need to meet in the Sr. Alternate Room promptly at the start of Lunch on Thursday to receive an important information package.  The Sr. Alternate Room is located across the hall from the wood shop.
Junior Football Registration
Junior Football Registration Night is Monday, March 2nd in Chandler Hall at 6 PM.  Players need to bring a parent with them/
Sr. Football
All boys currently in grades 10 and 11 who want to play football this coming season need to see Coach Stevenson ASAP to secure their 2015 registration package.  Packages are due to be returned by 3 PM on Monday, March, 2nd.
All Boys Grades 10, 11 and 12 Who are interested in playing Rugby this April need to meet in Coach Stevenson’s Sr. Alternate Room at the start of lunch on Tuesday, March 3rd.
Barsby Queer Straight Alliance
The Barsby Queer Straight Alliance group is happening today at lunch in room 209. Please come enjoy some snacks, activities, and great discussion, hope to see you all there.
Fab Five
Given that students have more time to get to class between classes, five students picked at random found in the hall after the bell will be given lunch time detentions. These students will be chosen by your caring Principal and Vice principals. This campaign will begin March 2nd. You have been warned now get to class on time.

PLC Sessions - Early Dismissal for students

Students will be dismissed from school one-hour early on the first and third Mondays of the month, including: January 5 and 19; February 16; March 2 and 16; April 20; May 11 and 25.


Note for bus students - the school bus schedule runs one hour earlier on PLC early dismissal days
