  • The Becoming Sustainable Facilities Plan: UPDATE
    The Becoming Sustainable Facilities Plan Special Board Meetings for Tuesday, December 1 and Wednesday, December 2 will now be held in the Shaw Auditorium at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre. Both meetings start at 6 p.m.
    The Board will discuss the public consultation, staff recommendations and motions.

Social Justice and Student Leadership
Social Justice and Student Leadership groups meet on Tuesday at lunch in room 209. New members are always welcome.
John Barsby Tour Band
John Barsby Tour Band is collecting Country Grocer receipts to help fundraise for Disneyland.  Please bring your Country Grocer receipts to the office or the band room.  Every $1000 in receipts gives us $10!  Thanks for your support!
Education and Career Fair
Are you in Grade 10, 11 or 12 and would like information about post-secondary options?
If yes, go see Natalie Sorensen (counsellor) for a permission slip to go to the Education and Career Fair on Wednesday Dec 2 at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre. More than 50 institutions are going to be there!!
First 55 to get their slips in, will be going.
Christmas Hampers
Attention John Barsby
It’s that time of the year where we come together as a community to help those in need.
Running until Friday December 5th, each block 4 class will be collecting non-perishable good for our Christmas Hampers.
So for two weeks, bring in your non-perishable items. Class with most items will get pizza.
If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Goldsmith, Mrs. Rispin or Natalie in the counselling office.
Intramural Basketball
Intramural 3 on 3 Basketball tips off on Tuesday. Sign up with Mr. Robertson monday or tuesday, or come to the gym on tuesday to sign-up. Once again, intramural basketball sign -up is Monday and Tuesday at lunch in the gym.
You are perfect
Just a reminder to staff and students that December 1 is perfect attendance check in day. Teachers are encouraged to use the perfect attendance form in their teacher drawer and give it to all students that have had perfect attendance for the month of November. Reminder to students to get your completed form into Mr. Travers by 4:00 at the latest on Tuesday Dec 1st to be entered in the draw.
Goal for the week
Starting this Monday and every Monday moving forward teachers are encouraged to set a goal with their class for the week that demonstrates that they are working on getting better. All goals that are met for that week are to be handed in to Mr Travers by that Friday to enter in the draw for the prizes for the month.
Youth Lounge
Come check out the new Youth Lounge at Nanaimo Aquatic Centre! It's free and open from 3-8pm every Thursday. This week we/they are doing improv games and playing music trivia!
Can Drive
Our first week of the can drive has the Learn at Home class in the lead followed by Ms. Pennell’s class in second place.  Keep those donations coming!!  Please remember to check your donations for expiry date.
Tuesday Dec 1 the cafeteria will be closed for food service. However, Chandler hall will still be open for students to eat their lunch. Thanks

Study Hall is after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays in room 234 from 3:45 - 5:00.

Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools (NLPS) are committed to a safe and supportive environment for all – students, parents and staff. We take all threatening comments and behaviours seriously. Parents and students should be aware of the district’s threat /violence risk assessment protocol. Threat assessment is the process that is followed when a school becomes aware of a threat made against a student, staff member or the safety of the school building and its occupants.
