PVS Supporting our Community at Christmas

Body

We are supporting our community in a number of ways this Christmas season. Please help where you can to make someone’s Christmas a little brighter…

Food Drive – We are collecting items for the Hamperville food drive. Students can bring in non-perishable food items. We will have a competition between classes to see which class brings in the most donations. Donations will be accepted from December 4 until December 21. Ms. Gannon’s class and the student leadership group are also volunteering their time on December 20th to sort food.

Coins for Kids – We are participating in the 21st year of collecting cash for the Boys and Girls Club of Central Vancouver Island and the Great Nanaimo Toy Drive. We will have a competition to see which clan group raises the most money. Donations will be accepted from December 4 until December 22nd.

Everybody Deserves a Smile (EDAS) – We are supporting this grassroots initiative to make December a little brighter for homeless people in Nanaimo and other communities on Vancouver Island by putting together care packages. We are accepting donations of toothbrushes, toothpaste, toques, mittens, scarves, and wool socks (preferred sizes for all clothing are Women’s M and Men’s XL). Donations will be accepted December 4 until December 13. Some classes are also helping to paint 50 gift bags and make 50 cards for the care packages.

Salvation Army Kettle Campaign – Many classes are walking up to Superstore to put a donation into the Salvation Army kettle. Send a donation on the day your child goes. Some of our student leaders are also manning the kettles. Come see us between 1:00 and 3:30 on Dec. 7 at Thrifty’s at Longwood Station; Dec. 8 at Canadian Tire; or Dec. 21 at Woodgrove Mall by Guest Services.

Thank you for helping us show compassion in our local community beyond our school.
